The exhibition concept is based on ‘work analyses’ that were conducted
by the artists during the symposium Theorie und Praxis der konstruktiven
Kunst heute [Theory and Practice in Constructivist Art Today] at Buchberg Castle
on the river Kamp in 1979 and were subsequently published as a portfolio of
graphic art. In these analyses, the visual and theoretical components of the
works were broken down into a didactic and aesthetic form, without this being a
retroactive ‘art theoretical’ analysis applied to the picture; rather, such
reflective forms of representation are intrinsic to the systematic constructivist
principle, because it is a fundamentally analytical artistic process.
