KUNSTRAUM BUCHBERG | BUCHBERG CASTLE ON THE RIVER KAMP

COLLECTION DIETER AND GERTRAUD BOGNER

Alongside their activities with Exakte Tendenzen and later with the Kunstraum Buchberg, since the late 1970s Gertraud and Dieter Bogner have also collected works by the artists with whom they have collaborated, as well as historical works and archive materials connected with Dieter Bogner’s research into the tradition of constructive art in Austria. In 2007 Gertraud and Dieter Bogner gifted the majority of their collection to the mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien – ‘ohne Wenn und Aber’ (with no strings attached). Comprising over 100 pictures, sculptures and objects as well as 300 drawings, gouaches, prints, autographs, artists’ books and archive materials, it is one of the largest coherent donations ever made to the museum. Two informative collection catalogues were subsequently published to make the holdings more accessible to the public.

PERSPEKTIVEN IN BEWEGUNG. SAMMLUNG DIETER UND GERTRAUD BOGNER IM MUMOK

COLLECTION DIETER AND GERTRAUD BOGNER

The second catalogue about the Collection Dieter and Gertraud Bogner at the mumok has two focal points: reprinting key research papers by Dieter Bogner from the years between 1980 and 2004 and accurately recording and publicizing the second large group of works from the donations made by Gertraud and Dieter Bogner to the mumok since 2007. Subsumed under the term ‘research collection’, this publication focuses more on the archive materials, first editions and autographs related to artwork from the first half of the 20th century that were acquired in the context of Dieter Bogner’s research publications and exhibition work.
