JÁNOS MEGYIK, and others
16th July to 6th August 2006
For its 25th anniversary, the Kunstraum Buchberg is opening its
doors over four weekends to show 17 in situ installations by international
artists created since the early 1980s. On the basis of sketches, drawings,
models and archive materials, the development of the concept and the creation
of the individual art spaces can be retraced in detail. A new addition this
year is a colour intervention in the entrance hall by the Vienna-based artist OSKAR
PUTZ. […] The history of Buchberg’s site-specific installations is also the
history of one of the first contemporary private collections in Austria to be
open to the public. Alongside the art spaces, the castle is home to a
comprehensive collection of international constructivist and conceptual art. In
its core holdings it documents the long-unacknowledged fact that an exploration
of constructivist and structural theoretical and formal principles is intrinsic
to the roots of artistic design in Austria.
