With this film, JOERG BURGER, freelance artist and film director, has erected a permanent memorial to [the Kunstraum Buchberg,] this unique amalgam of contemporary art, historical architecture and natural diversity. Again and again, he has covered buildings, gardens, art spaces, the riverscape and the surrounding meadows and forests, condensing them in filmic details and combining them to reveal surprising insights and connections.

The essay ‘Versuch über Buchberg’ [An Essay on Buchberg] is the result of a commission to write a short accompanying text. In it, UWE MATTHEISS supplements the film with an independent linguistic counterpart.

A visual documentation of the works at Buchberg rounds off the DVD edition, which was carefully and cleverly designed by EVA DRANAZ and JOCHEN FILL.

In 2007, the Viennese collectors GERTRAUD and DIETER BOGNER gave mumok part of their collection as a gift – ‘with no ifs and buts’. With more than a hundred paintings, sculptures, and objects, and three hundred drawings, prints, autographs, artists’ books, and archive materials, this is the largest single donation to the museum to date. Since 2007, the collection has been expanded and complemented. mumok has now invited the Bogners to curate their own exhibition based on the collection, entitled Construction_Reflection. This will be centered on a number of themes and on show from November 25.
